Feed Scout tutorial: how to subscribe to RSS podcasting feed view and then save MP3 podcast.

Feed Scout is a toolbar for Internet Explorer that provides easy way to subscribe to RSS feeds including RSS podcasts. You can download latest version of Feed Scout here (direct link)

Podcasting is a next generation of radio. Thanks to the fact that podcasting is integrated into RSS you can receive your favorite podcasts using your favorite RSS reader software. Audio podcasts are simple MP3 files and RSS feeds contain links to these MP3 files.

Run Internet Explorer and enable Feed Scout toolbar. To turn on Feed Scout just go to View | Toolbar menu in Internet Explorer and click Feed Scout:

Now we will subscribe to RSS podcasting feed (Weekend America) described at http://weekendamerica.publicradio.org/collections/podcast/rss_info.html

Right-click on link to RSS feed and select Copy Shortcut

Now click Subscribe on Feed Scout toolbar and "Subscribe To Feed" wizard will appear:

Click Next and follow the wizard to subscribe feed.

Now click on Update button on Feed Scout and you will see latest items from new RSS feed. Attached MP3 podcasts are underlined on screenshot below. Left-click on them to listen to them or right-click to save to disk (you can save them all using download managers like freeware Download Accelerator or simply using "Save Target As.." command)
